Iyer returned to the team for the New Zealand series after recovering from injury. Iyer was a reserve player in the T20 World Cup. He batted in all three matches of the series against New Zealand but could not shine. He scored just 30 runs in three matches.

Siraj played in the first T20 but did not play in the second and third T20s due to a finger injury. Despite not suffering a serious injury, the management allowed the player to rest as he will play in the Test series against New Zealand. The injured player is preparing for the Test series.
