Clashes between riot police and pro-Palestinian demonstrators began near the University of Amsterdam as authorities attempted to dismantle the barricades and disperse the protesters.

As Day.Az reports, NOS TV channel reported this.

According to the broadcasting corporation, during the confrontation, protesters threw various objects at special forces officers and pointed fire extinguishers in their direction. The special forces, in turn, used batons.

The decision to disperse was made after the University of Amsterdam filed a complaint about vandalism and trespass on its territory. Previously, the management of the educational institution tried to negotiate with students and teachers taking part in the demonstration, but they ended to no avail. The protesters are demanding that the university itself and other universities in the city end ties with Israel.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, police were also forced to use force to dismantle a tent camp organized by pro-Palestinian demonstrators on the Ruterseiland campus of the University of Amsterdam.
