Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has carried out a simulated attack on an Israeli airbase during an exercise using medium-range missiles, DPA reported, citing Iranian media.

Naval forces in the Gulf of Oman fired several of the missiles at test targets located in the desert in central Iran. The purpose of the military maneuvers was to attack the Israeli air force base “Palmahim”, located south of Tel Aviv. This was reported by BTA.

The air base is a major operational hub for Israel’s military campaign in the Gaza Strip, which aims to destroy the Iran-backed Palestinian group Hamas, considered a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union.

Iranian media reported that the missiles were mostly of the Fateh and Emad types, which have a range of about 1,700 km.

The state news agency IRNA published a video of the missile launches, which were also carried out with the help of the warship “Shahid Mahdavi” (IRGC-N Shahid Mahdavi).

“Shahid Mahdavi” is a former container ship that was refitted and relaunched about a year ago. It is used as a floating base of KGIR and has multiple launchers for unmanned aircraft and missiles, DPA notes.
