An old cold-case resurfaces. The departmental directorate of public security of Aube (DDSP) published, this Friday, a call for witnesses to try to find Marie-Louise Rance, a woman who disappeared… more than eleven years ago.

Now 56, Marie-Louise Rance disappeared on January 28, 2012, in her village of Vallant-Saint-Georges (Aube). While she was peeling potatoes in her kitchen, this mother left her home on foot. Last trace left by the woman: a piece of paper, with the writing on it “I’m going to Hélène”, her sister. Without news, her husband had given the alert.

In the days following his disappearance, all the scenarios had been studied recalls the local newspaper East-Lightning : voluntary departure, kidnapping, homicide and even suicide. But the hunts and other searches never yielded anything.

Last April, eleven and a half years after the disappearance of Marie-Louise Rance, the Division of Unsolved Cases (DiANE) reopened the file, which resulted in an opening of information with a cabinet of instruction of the court of Troyes.

It is in this context that the departmental directorate of public security of Aube relaunched a call for witnesses this Friday. The missing woman is 1.55m tall, weighs 55kg, has brown hair and brown eyes. On the day of her disappearance, she was said to have been wearing jeans and a brown coat.
