STORY – Noise, dirt, prostitutes… Behind the lucrative financial aspect, some tell the behind the scenes of rentals via platforms.

Just over a year from the Olympics, the subject is on the lips of many Parisians. In the summer of 2024, should you rent your apartment on a specialized platform and, in particular, on the most famous of all, Airbnb? “When I look at the prices for the dates of the Olympic Games, I feel like it”, breathes a Parisian. We understand it. 300 euros per night for a studio on rue des Martyrs (9^e), of which “the access to the various Olympic sites is ideal” ; 750 euros per night for a two-room apartment of 40 m² with a terrace in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, usually offered at 300 euros less; or even… 10,500 euros per night for a 26 m2 two-room apartment² in the Marais, which usually rents for 230 euros a night. Figures that alone explain the dazzling interest in short-term rentals with a view to the Olympics.
