BOLZANO. In Bolzano and Merano, stickers on the shop window specify whether the bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and which are not. The Municipalities of Bolzano and Merano jointly presented the evolution of the “Nette Toilette Gentile” project, which as it expanded changed its name to “Easy Toilet”.
This is a step towards strengthening the social inclusion of people with disabilities. Launched in 2022 by the capital city together with the municipal council for people with disabilities, the initiative was born with the aim of facilitating the participation in social life of people with disabilities. All with the collaboration of public and commercial operators, third sector bodies and public institutions, which offer free use of their toilets to people with disabilities, with no obligation to consume.
Initially supported in Bolzano by around forty merchants, associations and public bodies, the project now aims to expand to a provincial level with the new name and logo “Easy Toilet”. The Municipality of Merano, supported by the social cooperative Independent L and the Adlatus association, also joined the initiative, selecting some public businesses ready to participate. This morning in the Town Hall in Bolzano the presentation of the Easy Toilet project by theMunicipal Councilor for Social Policies Juri Andriollofrom the Deputy Mayor of Merano Katharina Johanna Zeller and of theMerano councilor Stefan Frötscher.
