The Great Barrier Reef, which extends more than 2,300 kilometers along the northeast coast of Australia, is experiencing its seventh bleaching episode since 1998. This reef is home to some 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of molluscs. « In total, the surface area of coral reefs represents 0.2% of the oceans, says Matthias Paschal, head of the endowment fund of Nausicaa, an aquarium located in Boulogne-sur-Mer. But these 0.2% shelter nearly 30% of marine biodiversity ! Letting them die would have a lasting impact on the entire ecosystem. »
