“Come on daddy, faster!” Faster ! Comfortably installed in her stroller, Léna, 21 months, encourages her father, Jérémy. Disguised as a superman, this superdad is about to cross the finish line. After 4.9 km of racing, he won this Saturday morning the 5th edition of the Brétipouss’. “I did what I could, but I couldn’t go any faster,” he says, all out of breath.

Organized as part of the Brétigny-sur-Orge (Essonne) city festival, this event invites all parents to run on a secure course in the city center with their children. All in disguise. This year, about forty participants took part. “We wanted an offbeat, joyful moment to launch the festivities, explains Nicolas Méary, the mayor (Horizons). This allows families to spend time together in an original way. »

“It was mainly for the atmosphere”

For Jérémy, it was a first. Last year, it was his wife who signed up. “We alternate, he smiles after his victory. Frankly, I didn’t do it to win. It was mainly for the atmosphere, and I recommend it to everyone. »

Brétigny-sur-Orge, this Saturday. Francisco, in firefighter’s uniform, and his son Noé, a few steps from the finish.

The biggest difficulty for this athlete was to find the right rhythm to run while pushing his daughter. A first for him. “It’s okay that she is very light. Also with gravel this is not practical. This is where I had the most difficulty, ”he explains. Others have found a little trick: throw the stroller hard so that they can take a few steps without being embarrassed. “I’m not sure it’s legal,” jokes one of the organizers seeing the scene.

Sandrine and Francisco, the parents of Noé, 4, and Milo, 2, were taking part in the Brétipouss’ for the second time. After 13 minutes, the father, disguised as a firefighter, wins the 2.8 km race. “Last year, he waited for me, remembers Sandrine. This year, I told him: go and win! “, she bursts out laughing.

And yet the sleep had been short-lived. The couple did not finalize the disguise of the two strollers until one o’clock in the morning. “We finished it at 4 a.m. the year before, there is progress, notes Sandrine. But it was above all a pleasure, I like to paint, draw. »

Participate, whether you are a parent or not

This race is open to everyone, even people without children. This is the case of Morgana. The young woman, transformed for the occasion into a pirate, wanted to challenge her brother. “He did it last year. Unfortunately, this year he is working,” she says. That didn’t demotivate her though. All that remained was to find a running buddy. “My mother is a childminder. She asked one of her relatives if they could lend me their child. They immediately agreed (smile). »

Along the route, encouragement is heard. “Come on, just one more ride,” we shout to a mother, dressed as a rabbit. “The children applauded them as soon as they arrived”, slips a father. “I just moved to Brétigny, we came to see what it was like,” he says. And the new resident is won over: “It’s really nice. Maybe next year we’ll sign up. »
