Prime Minister of the Canadian province of Ontario Doug Ford, in response to a statement by US President-elect Donald Trump, suggested that Canada buy Alaska, Day.Az reports with reference to REN-TV.
Let us clarify that we are talking about Trump’s statement made on January 6th. The US President-elect then invited Canada to become the 51st US state after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation.
“You know, I want to make a counter-offer to the president (Trump – REN TV note): let’s buy Alaska? And at the same time we’ll annex Minnesota and Minneapolis. This is simply impossible. I know that he likes to make such comments and jokes. But I I take everything seriously. He may be joking, but under my watch this will never happen,” Ford emphasized.
Trump believes that the unification of Canada and the United States would eliminate trade tariffs, reduce taxes and guarantee Canada “complete security from threats from Russian and Chinese ships.”
