They do not necessarily take the plane to escape. The change of scenery is sometimes close to home, as in Cancbut (Ille-et-Vilaine)dyears this campsite in fulle nature, where some settle and put down their suitcases for seven months of the year.

In the morning mist, the silhouette of Mont-Saint-Michel (Manche) plays hide and seek with the Cancalaise. A breathtaking landscape which, every year for more than thirty years, has brought Michel Perrot and his wife back to a municipal campsite. Once the caravan and the awning are installed, this octogenarian will stay for seven months, facing the sea. “When we retired, we sold the house in the Jura, we bought one there, but we still come here. Because where we live, we don’t see the sea”, he says.

Olivier Frassati has been in charge of the municipal campsite in Cancale for 23 years. Of the 200 pitches reserved mainly for caravans, 70 are rented out on an annual basis. This comes to around 2,500 euros all inclusive, for regulars who are almost part of the family. With his family, Sylvain Paris took advantage of the Easter weekend to settle down. A 34-year-old ritual that he is not ready to give up. A family from Mayenne has been coming to the campsite for 20 years. Regulars ready for the beautiful season, embellished on certain days with the unexpected visit of a group of dolphins.
