Three weeks after the tragedy experienced by 7,006 inhabitants of Chalco (2 thousand houses) due to flooding in five colonies, flood levels began to drop.
In the Culturas de México and Jacalones II neighborhoods, which are two of the most affected and where the level reached one and a half meters, there is a drop of at least 10 to 20 centimeters.

This is because the pumps and 20 Vactor trucks are working permanently, said the director of Civil Protection of Chalco, Gerardo Carmona.
He added that they hope that the levels will continue to drop in the coming days and that they will soon be able to move on to the next stage, which is sanitizing the area, not only the 700 affected homes, but also the rest of the houses located in the Tres Marías, Emiliano Zapata, Nueva Miguel and Jardines de Chalco neighborhoods, among others.
For the time being, temporary shelters are still being used where the victims have been accommodated due to the impossibility of spending the night in their homes.
