The consequences are particularly dramatic for the future of these children when they have a stroke.
Children are also struck by strokes. “They represent 1% of all strokes. It’s both a little and a lot, since it represents between 500 and 1000 children per year.explains Doctor Manoëlle Kossorotoff, neuropediatrician at Necker Hospital in Paris and head of the national reference center for childhood stroke, in a video devoted to this subject.
The consequences are particularly dramatic for the future of these children. Stroke is indeed the main cause of acquired disability in children: three quarters of affected children will indeed have motor or cognitive sequelae (language disorders, developmental delay, school difficulties). It is also a cause of epilepsy.
