In Coimbatore, a train hit and three jungles overturned train

Coimbatore: On the Palakkad-Coimbatore railway line, three jungles overturned after being hit by a train. The elephants were hit by a train at Thankavel Kattumula between Valayar and Ettimada. The 12602 Mangalore Chennai Mail which reached at 9.05 pm was involved in the accident. Twenty-five-year-old female and two other small females were trying to cross the track.

The accident took place on the A line track which runs parallel to the Walayar National Highway. Common jungles are the cross-sectional area between line A and line B. One fell on the track and the other two fell on the side of the track. The elephants were leaning at the time of the incident. Madhukara Ranger and his team reached the spot at night.

The train bound for Chennai was caught at the spot following the accident. Traffic along the A-Line will be restored only after forest officials arrive at night and remove the carcass of the elephant on the track after completing the procedures. Until then, trains bound for Coimbatore will be diverted via B line, railway sources said. The West Coast Express from Chennai to Mangalore will be stopped at Pothannur station till then.
