Later, the mayor of Cuauhtémoc offered a public apology for the violation of rights to culture in the demarcation with the removal of signs and murals, during the last administration.
From the San Juan Market, Rojo de la Vega described the action implemented by his predecessor, Sandra Cuevas, as a direct attack on cultural rights and the work of sign makers.
“I categorically reject the gross violation of cultural rights, the attempted homicide against culture carried out by the last administration, destroying murals in Tepito and the right of merchants to dress their commerce and promote it through art,” he noted.
Rojo de la Vega called for a public competition to define the designs of the artistic interventions that will be carried out in the mayor’s office over the next three years.
