REPORT – Hundreds of volunteers take turns every day to improve their daily lives.

Around a hundred soldiers in uniform come and go on the artificial grass carpets spread behind the Delek Gilat gas station, at the entrance to Ofakim. On a chair, a soldier devours a burger with concentration. The ketchup flows, falls and stains the M16 rifle placed on the fighter’s knees with a red mark.
Under large tents, dozens of volunteers serve meals to soldiers stationed nearby or passing through. Delek Gilat is 22 kilometers from the Gaza Strip, a few kilometers before the military operations zone closed to civilians. Since October 7, the place has been teeming with soldiers, professionals or reservists, on their way to the forward bases or positioned at the rear. To improve their daily lives, hundreds of civilians take turns every day to host this huge barbecue, where the soldiers come to rest.
