In Doha, migrant workers still victims of abuse

About 20 kilometers south of Qatar’s glitzy, ultra-modern capital hides an area known as the “industrial zone”, home to around 800,000 Asian and African workers, crammed into overcrowded housing and living in deplorable conditions, says The Independent in a report published on 1is June.

Mainly employed as construction workers and security guards, many of them are not paid on time, some are harassed by their employers and descend into alcoholism.
