The delegations began a second sleepless night on Tuesday evening, in the hope of finding a consensus on the future of fossil fuels.

Every day tension rises a notch in Dubai at COP28, the 28th United Nations framework convention on climate change. It was to initiate a reduction in the use of fossil fuels to combat global warming caused by greenhouse gases. A new negotiating text had been promised for 6 p.m. (3 p.m. in Paris) Tuesday evening. But the consultations led by Sultan al-Jaber, the president of COP28, are dragging on. They will continue until 3 a.m., the UAE presidency indicated on Tuesday evening. « We might therefore not have any discussion text this evening. Because we still need to integrate the countries’ proposals », specified a parliamentarian.
