Con “Signs of the times”starting from next December 7th it returns to the National Archaeological Museum of Eboli and the Middle Sele Valley Lenzuola d’Arte -Xmas Edition.

This year’s edition will be enriched by an evocative artistic installation,“Art in the wind”, which imitates, with the aid of aerators, the dance of sheets moved by the wind and the force of the air. The installation will be presented, curated by the art critic Antonella Nigro, Saturday 16 December, at 5.00 pm, on the occasion of an extraordinary opening of the Museum as part of the initiatives promoted by the Ministry of Culture for the valorization of state museums and places of culture.

Lenzuola d’Arte is an original and innovative urban art project, born from the idea of the Ebolitan artists Gerardo Bisogni and Enrico Visconti, who, throughout the summer of 2023, transformed the historic center of Eboli and the Cilento village of Ispani into outdoor art galleries. Inspired by the Mediterranean tradition of clothes hanging between buildings, Lenzuola d’Arte is an operation of land art in which the surrounding environment interacts with the works of art, becoming part of them, and opens a reflection between art and landscape, nature and culture.

From the summer solstice to the autumn equinox the Art Sheets remained spread out in the alleys of the ancient village of Eboli and the village of Spain, in the Gulf of Policastro. They suffered the effects of the scorching sun, pouring rain and wind. They breathed air and smog, smells and perfumes. They lived, saw and told. And they do it again.

The exhibition will allow visitors to admire the sheets up close, accompanied by a brief description of the work and the author’s biography, and to appreciate details and artistic techniques that the display above made difficult, highlighting the traces that atmospheric agents left their mark on the works during the outdoor exhibition, between the houses, balconies and terraces of the two villages.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge from 7 December 2023 to 7 January 2024 during the museum’s opening hours (from Tuesday to Friday, from 9.00 to 19.00, with last entry at 18.30; on Saturday and Sunday, from 9.00 to 13.30, with last entry entry at 1pm; closed on Mondays).
