New‍ Hand Luggage Liquid Restrictions at Riga Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Latvia has announced new regulations regarding⁣ hand luggage liquids at Riga⁣ Airport. While selected European airports have already implemented advanced screening systems allowing⁣ larger liquid ‌packages in⁣ hand luggage, these new EU-wide regulations will ⁣apply to all passengers from September 1st.

Passengers ⁢can still take liquid packages in hand luggage,‍ but only those with a maximum volume of 100 milliliters. These‍ must be placed in a single, transparent, one-liter plastic‍ bag.

The CAA clarifies ⁣that passengers using the latest generation screening systems at‍ Riga Airport ‍will not be restricted in the total volume‍ of liquid items they can carry in their hand luggage.

The authority notes that some passengers have ⁤already become accustomed to‌ these new screening systems in ‍other countries and have been taking larger liquid packages in their hand luggage as a result.

Passengers are ⁣reminded that they⁤ can still purchase larger liquid packages after‍ security control and take them on the aircraft, or pack them in checked baggage.

These new restrictions are⁢ aimed at maintaining the ⁤highest level of security in civil⁣ aviation and will remain in place until the new generation hand luggage screening systems have ⁢undergone further testing and certification.

The CAA’s ‍work⁤ contributes to ensuring the safety of civil aviation in ‌Latvia by monitoring aircraft safety, air traffic control, and environmental compliance.
