In five proposals, one of which as a lead partner, the Municipality of Pogoni participates in the Interreg (VI-A) IPA CBC “Greece – Albania” 2021-2027, continuing a policy of claiming every financial program for the benefit of the region.


The proposal, in which he is the lead partner, has a title “Historical tourism, culture and innovation in the Greek-Albanian cross-border region: the anti-fascist struggle during World War II” and is about cultural tourism, unlocking the vivid and usually silenced stories embedded in the deep historical fabric of the Greece-Albania cross-border region. The Holy Diocese of Ioannina, the Union of Social and Solidarity Economy Agencies of Epirus “Koino K.Al.O.”, the Municipality of Tepeleni and the University of Argyrokastro participate in the proposal as partners. The total budget of the proposal is 1,600,000 euros and that of the Municipality of Pogoni 400,000 euros.
At the same time, the Municipality of Pogoni participates as a partner in four more proposals as follows:
• “Synergies for the Development of Green Energy Infrastructures” with the lead partner the Center for Renewable Sources Energy and Savings (KOPE) and partners the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy Buildings of Albania. Total budget 1,450,000 euros – Municipality of Pogoni 500,000 euros.
• “Strengthening Disaster Resilience: Interstate Fire Prevention Initiative” with the lead partner the Decentralized Administration of Epirus – Western Macedonia and partners the Municipalities of Metsovo, Argyrokastro and Deropolis. Total budget 1,300,000 euros – Municipality of Pogoni 250,000 euros.
• “Optimal management of water resources as a consequence of the prudent management of tourism needs, ensuring the maintenance of urban water supplies in mountainous areas” with the lead partner the Municipality of Florina and partners the Ministry of the Interior (Macedonia-Thrace Sector) and the Municipality of Divjake. Total budget 1,119,000 euros – Municipality of Pogoni 200,000 euros.
• “Regional and local mobility through an innovative and optimized network of cross-border physical routes (Via Bike)” with the lead partner the Center for Economic Development & International Relations and partners the Municipality of Delvina, the HANTH and the Greek-Italian Chamber (Thesprotia Branch). Total budget 1,068,500 euros – Municipality of Pogoni 207,816 euros.
“We take advantage of every financial tool, submitting thorough and substantial proposals, which will contribute in various ways to the development of Pogoni. Interreg is a demanding program, which can, however, offer the most in creating new conditions. Based on territorial cooperation and the needs of the region, we came up with a series of proposals for cross-border projects and actions with a development orientation and we await with particular interest the result of the evaluation”, noted the responsible deputy mayor Stylianos Koukoularis, who at the same time thanked both the partners and and the competent department of the Municipality of Pogoni for the excellent cooperation.
