In Garges, one dead and one seriously injured in the fire of a squat: “I heard screams”

The burning smell is still very strong despite the windows being left open all night. It was at 14, rue Jean-de-la-Fontaine, in Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d’Oise), that a fire broke out during the night from Sunday to Monday, in a squatted premises at cellar level. It is a joint ownership of several buildings around a small square littered with waste. Traces of smoke are still visible above the air vent on the side of the building. The door leading to the basement is sealed. It was here that one man died and another was very badly burned.
