In Germany, almost two-thirds of coronavirus patients in intensive care units are unvaccinated, according to joint data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the Association of Intensivists (DIVI), released on Thursday, December 13.

According to these data, out of nearly 9,000 patients with established vaccination status, 62 percent were unvaccinated. Another ten percent of inpatient coronavirus patients are incompletely immunized (recovered without vaccination or were not fully vaccinated). At the same time, 28 percent of covid patients in intensive care were fully vaccinated or even received a booster vaccination.

These data refer to the period from December 14 to January 12. The RKI and DIVI emphasize that the data in this form is not intended to evaluate the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccinations – for this it is necessary to correlate them with the general population vaccination rate. As of January 13, 72.3 percent of German residents received full basic immunization against coronavirus.
