Kreuzer said he “must point out that these companies were inspired by a month and a half of protests.” The members of the opposition came out against the statement, and criticized the members of the coalition for encouraging the riots in Hawara.
Kreuzer asked to clarify later “that it should not be interpreted that there was an agreement to take the law into one’s own hands. I said that for a month and a half there have been unrestrained riots here, blocking roads and burning tires.”
Yorai Lahav Hertzno Mish Atid told the committee that the comparison between the protesters and the riots in Hvara is a moral bankruptcy: “You have just compared hundreds of thousands of patriotic citizens who fulfill their civic duty and defend their democracy, to a group of violent hooligans who took the law into their hands and committed a pogrom. In response to the words of MK Yitzhak Kreuzer, the high-tech workers protested that: “On Friday they called to punch us, today they are already accusing us of riots in Hawara. You are burning the State of Israel and looking for someone to blame. The fight against the dictatorship will not stop. On Wednesday we will be in the streets and close the country.”
Two formulas to weaken the power of the High Court
Today, Rothman distributed two versions to weaken the power of the High Court: one includes the possibility of invalidating laws by a majority of 12 out of 15 judges (80%) with a superseding clause.
