A forest fire, which occurred on Sunday August 18 around 3 pm, burned more than 300 hectares in the town of Gigean (Hérault) and is moving to the heights of Frontignan, announced the firefighters and the region .

The fire started 150 meters from the A9 motorway “but it goes in the opposite direction, towards the Gardiole massif”said the prefecture, specifically that a few houses at the foot of the massif “removed and protected”.

Two Dash planes, five Canadairs and three helicopters were mobilized to fight this forest fire, firefighters told Agence France-Presse. The Hérault region is announced on that 400 firefighters from Hérault are being mobilized, with reinforcements from Bouches-du-Rhône (80 firefighters and 80 marine firefighters from Marseille).

The city of Frontignan, 24,000 inhabitants, southwest of Montpellier, for its part has developed its urban security plan, emphasizing the area, also located on the X.
