Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon has been absent since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. Not only Papon, most BCB directors are also not showing up. In such a situation, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Adviser on Youth and Sports to the Interim Government, advised to look for legal aspects regarding the appointment of the President.

On Sunday (August 11), Asif Mahmud spoke to the media about BCB at the secretariat. At this time, the new sports advisor also said that they cannot take any decision regarding BCB as an autonomous body.

‘BCB is a federation under ICC. We cannot take a decision on this matter, we have suggested that those who are the directors of BCB will look into how the matter can be resolved within the legal framework of ICC. They will report back to us later on whether someone can be appointed for the interim period.’

“Regarding BCB, since BCB is an autonomous body, we cannot give the decision. I can take suggestions from BCB, I can give them suggestions’ – added Asif.

BCB Director Mahbub Anam, Khaled Mahmud Sujan, Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu, Akram Khan, Jalal Yunus, Sazzadul Alam Bobby, Kazi Enam and Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan held a meeting with the Sports Advisor at the Secretariat.

BCB President is not present, the main problem is, ‘BCB President is absent. Of course, for a federation to function, all its organs must function. The one who holds important duties like the president is absent. But we will keep the process going on this matter.’
