The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias will be in Ioannina tomorrow Thursday, accompanied by the General Secretary of Civil Protection Vassilis Papageorgiou, as part of the strategic prevention for the upcoming fire season.

After Lamia, where he was found on Friday, it is the capital of Epirus, where V. Kikilias will preside over a broad meeting with representatives of the local government and the Fire Department, at the Regional Administration of Fire Services of Epirus, with the object of the operational management of impacts from possible extreme weather events, as well as the prevention strategy being developed for the upcoming fire season.
The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection is expected to refer to the means and equipment that will be made available through the AEGIS program, as the tender process is already underway, while he will also point out the need for coordination between the agencies for more direct and timely cooperation, also encouraging the utilization of volunteers.
The meeting will be attended by the Epirus Coordinator of the Fire Department, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Kontogiannis, the Commander of the Epirus Regional Fire Service, Brigadier General Apostolos Vasdekis, the Fire Service Commanders of the Prefectures of Ioannina, Thesprotia, Arta and Preveza, Fire Chiefs Vasilios Oikonomou, Evangela Balatsos, Konstantinos Kitsios and Athanasios Mikroulis, respectively, the commander of the 5th EMAK of Ioannina, deputy fire chief Athanasios Golias, the commander of the 5th EMODE of Ioannina, fire chief George Vletsas, the commanders of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Fire Stations of Ioannina, deputy chiefs Dimitrios Tsoumanis, Fotios Dimitris Eligiannis and Ioannis Tzalas .
At noon, Mr. Kikilias will hold a meeting with the regional governor of Epirus, Alexandros Kahrimanis.
