In June 2024, compared to May, the most significant impact on price level changes was for transport-related goods and services (-0.2 percentage points), the group of various goods and services (-0.1 percentage points), clothing and footwear (-0, 1 percentage point), housing-related goods and services (-0.1 percentage point), as well as food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.2 percentage points) and leisure and culture-related goods and services (+0.1 percentage point).

During the month, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.6%.

As the new potato harvest continued to enter the market, the most significant price increase in the group was for potatoes (+24.7%). At the end of the promotions, prices increased for fresh fruit (+2.5%), dried, salted or smoked meat (+1.3%), cheese and cottage cheese (+1.1%), chocolate (+2.6%), poultry for meat (+1%), as well as meat products (+1.9%). Coffee (+2.6%) and pork (+1%) became more expensive during the month. On the other hand, the prices of fresh vegetables decreased (-4.7%), and dairy products (-3%), eggs (-2.3%), bread (-0.5%), ice cream (-2, 6%) and yogurt (-2.1%).

In the clothing and footwear group, prices decreased by 1.7% during the month. The average price level for shoes decreased by 3.8%, and for clothes – by 1.2%, mainly due to the actions.

The average price level of housing-related goods and services decreased by 0.5% during the month. The most significant price drop in the group during the month was for heating energy (-3.9%), while prices increased for electricity (+1.4%), water supply (+3.8%), sewage services (+2%), as well as housing rent ( +1.1%).

Transport-related goods and services became cheaper by 1.1% during the month, which was largely influenced by a 4.1% drop in fuel prices. The price of diesel fuel decreased by 4.3%, gasoline – by 4.1%, and car gas – by 1%. On the other hand, prices increased for passenger air transportation.

The prices of goods and services related to leisure and culture increased by 1.5% during the month, as complex leisure services, fiction books and pet food became more expensive.

In the group of various goods and services, prices decreased by 2.9% during the month. Personal hygiene products and beauty care products, non-electric devices for personal care were mainly cheaper due to the promotions.

In other consumption groups, the most significant price drop was for home cleaning and care products, beer, while prices rose for tobacco products, hotel services, telecommunication services, restaurant and cafe services.

On the other hand, the biggest impact on changes in the average consumer price level in June 2024, compared to June 2023, was for transport-related goods and services (+0.7 percentage points), alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (+0.5 percentage points), food and soft drinks (+0.4 percentage points), health care (+0.3 percentage points), and housing-related goods and services (-1.6 percentage points).

In the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages, prices increased by 1.5% during the year.

Potatoes (+29%), confectionery (+6.9%), olive oil (+37.2%) had the most significant impact on the increase in the average price level in this group. Chocolate (+9%), fruit and vegetable juices (+12.3%), sweets (+17.1%) and coffee (+3%) were more expensive. Prices also increased for dried, salted or smoked meat (+1.7%), butter (+6.1%), canned or processed fish and seafood (+6.8%), soft drinks (+8.8%) ), fresh or chilled fish (+8.5%), fresh fruit (+1.5%) and pork (+1.6%). On the other hand, flour and other cereals (-12%), cheese and cottage cheese (-3.3%), bread (-1.9%), fresh vegetables (-1.7%), eggs (-6.2%) were cheaper ), dairy products (-3.6%), sugar (-11.7%), as well as vegetable oil (-5.9%).

The average price level of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 6.8% during the year. During the year, the prices of tobacco products increased by an average of 11.7%, while the prices of alcoholic beverages rose by 4.2%, with spirits, beer and wine becoming more expensive.

The average price level of housing-related goods and services decreased by 8.4% during the year. During the year, the most significant price drop was for thermal energy (-16.8%) and electricity (-19.4%). Prices decreased for solid fuel (-11.1%), natural gas (-7.6%). Housing management services (+7.6%), garbage collection (+13.4%), housing rent (+5.8%), water supply (+6.3%), housing maintenance and repair services (+ 5.5%), as well as sewerage services (+4.2%).

In the healthcare group, the average price level increased by 5.3% during the year. During the year, pharmaceutical products, dental services, services of medical specialists, services of medical analysis laboratories and radiology centers became more expensive.

Prices for transport-related goods and services increased by 5.1% during the year, driven by a 6.8% increase in fuel prices. The price of diesel fuel increased by 10.5%, gasoline – by 4.3%, while the price of auto gas decreased by 3.4%. During the year, there was also a price increase for the maintenance and repair of personal vehicles, passenger transportation by road and by train. On the other hand, the prices of used cars decreased.

In the other consumption groups, the most significant price increase during the year was for clothes, telecommunications services, home cleaning and care products, restaurant and cafe services, television subscription fees, canteen services. On the other hand, personal computers and mobile phone equipment were cheaper.
