A Bengali woman was raped by her ex-boyfriend in the middle of the road in Kalur, Kochi. Sandhya, a beauty parlor employee, was hacked. The woman suffered cuts on her left hand and outside and was admitted to a nearby private hospital. The attack took place on Kalur Azad Road around 11 am. While Sandhya and her friend were walking, their ex-boyfriend Farooq, who arrived on a bike, got into a verbal argument with them.
Then he tried to cut Sandhya with the machete he kept in his hand. My friend stopped me, so I didn’t cut it at first. In the repeated attack, Sandhya was cut on her hand and outside. Farooq saw people running away and escaped on a bike. The police concluded that a dispute over a romantic relationship resulted in the attack. Farooq and Sandhya had worked together for years.
