In Largo Abbazia with Anpi testimonies and songs against the war

This evening, September 13, starting at 7:30 pm, the evening organized by ANPI Corato, included in the summer program “Sei la mia Città 2024” on September 13, will host Gabriella Falcicchio and the musical association New Asincrono.

Gabriella Falcicchio, researcher and professor at the Department of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Communication of the University of Bari, is an authoritative voice of our territory and a regional representative of the nonviolent movement.

With her, through the fascinating and uncomfortable figure of Aldo Capitini, we will talk about a nonviolent proposal, alternative to the one that seems to govern the reality we live in; not for this utopian, but generative, open and plural, thirsty for justice and peace.

The NEW ASYNCRONO Association, which has always been a hotbed of talents even at a national level, was born with the main objective of creating the conditions for Apulian artists to express themselves in Puglia and present their talent in conditions of space and sound quality that can then catalyze the consensus of the public and therefore think of landing on national stages and beyond.

To give this opportunity to local artists, Asincrono aimed to create a laboratory where singers and instrumentalists from different experiences can compare themselves, triggering a “multiplier” of sounds and sensations to offer to the public, from time to time, in individual evenings, in individual concerts.

The name of the association comes from the non-acceptance of fashions, or rather the “fashion of following fashions”, shared by the staff and artists. The conceptual core of Asincrono, in short its DNA, has its roots in an event held in Andria in 1989, two months before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Anti-war songs: music that fought for peace. Anti-war songs are a form of musical protest that has deep roots in human history. From popular songs that accompanied soldiers during the world wars, to musical protests against the Vietnam War, to contemporary anti-war songs, music has often been used as a means of expression in conveying messages of peace and resistance against war.

This is the message that the music laboratory will try to convey on Friday 13 September at “Largo Abbazia” in Corato.

A song for all: “La Guerra di Piero” by Fabrizio De Andrè, one of the most famous Italian songs against war. Written in the 60s, during the Vietnam War, the song tells the story of Piero, a young Italian soldier forced to fight in a distant war and his death in battle. The song is an invitation to peace and reflection on the consequences of wars.

In this journey organized and shared by the many friends who have been attending the Asincrono music laboratory in Andria for years, the power of MUSIC is expressed by extraordinary talents whose abilities have joined with our singing to make harmony and reflection coincide.

The musicians:

Virtuosity and modernity in the strings of maestro Nico Acquaviva (guitar)

Guardian of the American Roots, elegant and iconic, the maestro Rocco Mastrolia (guitar and dobro)

Support and balance of the Asynchronous bridge, Andrea Di Bari (bass)

The rhythmic and pulsating heart of maestro Enzo Falco (percussion)

Intense and personal musical expression of the masters Gianni Binetti (tenor sax) and Marco Tuma (harmonica)

The singers:

Unmistakable timbre, authentic personality and emotional grit: Savio Vurchio, one of the most iconic voices of the Apulian and Italian music scene

The magical fluidity and intense and moving harmonies of Manuela Lorusso

The sonorous and refined peaks of Amanda Carella

The smiling chorality of Claudia Andriolo

The freshness and enthusiasm of Francesca Rumma and Gioia Squeo

Precious and eclectic, a court jester of King Zaga, as she likes to define herself, Marialuisa Pistillo

During the evening it will be possible to renew the annual membership to ANPI.
