In Likud they asked to drop the death penalty law for terrorists from the agenda, Ben Gabir refused

by time news

Likud officials asked the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir not to bring up today (Sunday) the death penalty law for terrorists that is supposed to come up in the ministerial committee for legislative affairs, until a debate on the law is held in the cabinet. Minister Ben Gabir refused the request.

“Great news”: This is the increase that the police will receive after the budget is approved

The death penalty law for terrorists submitted by Member of Knesset Limor Son Har Melech from “Otzma Yehudit” is one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s commitments to Minister Ben Gabir and the “Otzma Yehudit” party as part of the agreement to form the latest government.

The document signed by Netanyahu and Ben Gvir reads: “Due to the intensification of acts of terrorism with the intention of harming the State of Israel as the state of the Jewish people and in order to consciously defeat the threats, the coalition factions will enact, prior to the passing of the budget for 2023, a punishment law for terrorists.”

Minister Ben Gabir said: “We have an explicit conclusion in the coalition agreement with the Likud that the bill will come up, I find it hard to believe that the Likud will not honor the agreement. Of course I have no problem holding a discussion in a cabinet meeting as well, but the proposal should come up today in the committee of ministers.”

Son Har Melech said in response: “I was amazed to see opposition to the bill I submitted, and it was intended to put an end to the absurd reality in which terrorist murderers with blood on their hands are released after a few years from prison and continue to live their lives well and pleasantly. During the trial of the murderers of Shuli Har Melech’s husbands , the head of the terrorist squad stood up, smiled at us with contempt and said: ‘I don’t care how many years in prison you sentence me to, I’ll be out soon.’ Unfortunately he was right, and a few years later he was released in a terrorist release deal and returned to engage in terrorism that claimed the lives of more Jews. I vowed to put an end to this. This bill will pass no matter what!”
