In Limours, Thales assembles radars on the chain

Europe’s largest radar assembly site is preparing the GM200, destined for Ukraine. Its capacity should double in the coming months.

The anechoic chamber has taken on the colors of the time. In this vast room, also known as a deaf room, the walls, floor and ceiling are bristling with carbon foam spikes that absorb sound waves by bouncing them back to their base. They are also resistant to radiation heat. One of the walls is adorned with blue and yellow, the colors of Ukraine. It’s a coincidence.

The 1is February, the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Oleksii Reznikov, nevertheless visited the factory. Thales engineers presented him with the performance of the GM200 radar, a copy of which his army will soon receive. The purchase (worth around 30 million euros) was financed through the 200 million special fund for Ukraine. “Today we use about 300 different types of speed cameras, this one will really be the icing on the cake“said the minister.
