A little over forty years after the disappearance of Maurizio Calugia young footballer who disappeared on the football field of Cortenuova, the Serravalle Soccer Academy 2023 company and the municipal administration have reopened the field remembering that young life cut short.

Yesterday afternoon the ribbon cutting took place in the presence of the Calugi family (the parents Sergio e Lucia and Maurizio’s sister, Egyptian), of the municipal administration represented by the mayor Alessio Mantellassi and the Sports Councillor, Laura Mannucci.

The president will do the honors Simona Salvadori and the sports director Thomas Peppertogether with the first team, the coaches and the rest of the team. Serravalle Soccer Academy is in fact the new manager of the facility in via del Piano all’Isola and for the start of the season, set for September, the presence of the Calugi family was strongly desired.

“The ‘Maurizio Calugi’ field in Cortenuova reopens. We cut the ribbon with the parents of the young man to whom the field is dedicated, 40 years after his death. A touching memory of him on the field. With the team and the company led by Simona Salvadori there has been a great deal of work for the reopening of the structure and we will continue to make the facility more comfortable and convenient for everyone”comments Mayor Mantellassi.

In memory of Calugi, the sports club announced that in home games it will not take to the field with the number 4 shirt, which belonged to the deceased player. The same shirt will remain on the bench, “to symbolically bring Maurizio Calugi back on the field”.
