A culture of organ donation must be promoted in Mexico
Although a culture of donation still needs to be encouraged and fostered. This is because there are still not enough organs to meet the high demand of inhabitants who need an organ for transplant. There are more than 21,500 people on the waiting list. Of these, 13,700 require a kidney and more than 7,200 need a cornea.

Less than 10 percent of deaths in Mexico occur due to brain death

Last year, 6,033 organ and tissue transplants were performed in Mexico, which represents an increase of 40 percent compared to 2021. The most transplanted organs in Mexico were cornea, kidney and liver.
