The six-part miniseries “Kafka,” co-produced by ORF, was not well received by Austrian audiences. Despite a top-class cast and David Schalko in the director’s chair, none of the episodes reached more than 300,000 viewers on linear TV.

Nevertheless, the series is in demand abroad. It has already been licensed to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, Mexico and Switzerland, ORF said.

The ORF “Universum” productions once again proved to be a long-running favorite at this year’s MIPTV television trade fair in Cannes.

The Italian RAI includes three of the nature films in its program. FTV Prima from the Czech Republic secured eight of the “Universum” documentaries. “National Geographic” bought two productions of the nature series.

ORF continues to benefit from the discontinued series “Vorstadtweiber”: four seasons went to ARD One.

RTL (Hungary) picked up three seasons each of the series “Walking on Sunshine” and “Soko Kitzbühel”.
