At the same time, the different parties in Molln were sitting together within a stone’s throw. Official results are still unclear when and if drilling will take place. The opponents, on the other hand, were loud.

No media were allowed to be present when negotiations took place in Molln on Wednesday. It was about whether the ADX company would get a permit from the mining authority to produce natural gas. In order to inform the media anyway, the company simultaneously invited to a press conference. The group wants to carry out a test drilling near the Kalkalpen National Park. In addition to journalists, many citizens and environmentalists filled the room. Managing Director Paul Fink presented the project from his point of view and tried to make it palatable to the residents of Molln. The guests were not convinced, loud discussions broke out several times. Afterwards, the “ProNatur Steyrtal” initiative also invited to a discussion in order to examine the environmental aspects in more detail and to express doubts about Fink’s statements. Particular excitement was the flaring of the gas during the test drilling and the associated risk of fire, the 24-hour lighting of the drilling site, the noise pollution, the groundwater and the many endangered species that live in the previously intact ecosystem. The result of the negotiation was there not certain at the time of going to press, the next hurdle will be the environmental impact assessment.
