In Montargis, the revival of Maison Mazet, the oldest confectionery in France

by time news

The history of Maison Mazet is not new. To know its origins, you have to go back several centuries, to 1636, when the Duke of Praslin asked his chef to prepare sweets for his guests. Having only almonds and caramel on hand, Clément Jaluzot invents prasline. Given the success of his candy with his guests, he decided to open his own pharmacy which he called “La Maison de la Prasline”. Over the years, the brand endured: it was bought by Léon Mazet in 1903, then managed by his daughter, then his grandson.
