Montauban, winner of Brive, relegated from the Top 14, (34-28) and Vannes, who won in Aurillac (19-9), achieved the two big performances of the 3rd day of Pro D2 rugby. In other matches, Dax, promoted from National, won a fine 28-23 victory against Grenoble, second division championship finalists last year. Valence-Romans, the other promoted, continues its good start to the season with a 26-22 success at home against Colomiers, a strong Pro D2 player. Biarritz recovered from its rout last weekend (55-0 defeat against Valence) by resisting Soyaux-Angoulême 23-18.
The Biarrots will host Grenoble at the start of the 4th day on Wednesday September 6, while Brive will host Provence Rugby, the leader to close it, Thursday September 7.
