The video, which showcases the hacked entrance to the embassy in Moscow’s Arbat district, was published by journalist Aleksandrs Plyushchev, who received it from one of his followers on social networks.
The footage reveals that a bucket of paint was left at the embassy entrance.
Another video, from a different angle, was also released by the Russian propaganda outlet TASS.
The identity of the individuals responsible for this vandalism remains unknown. No message was left behind.
In response to the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania issued a diplomatic note to Russia.
The ministry summoned the Russian embassy counselor, Andrei Gasyuk, to express its strong disapproval of the attack, during which four unidentified individuals in masks assaulted the embassy building. Despite the presence of Russian police guarding the embassy, no action was taken until more than half an hour had passed.
Lithuania demands an explanation from Moscow regarding the inaction of the security personnel and the measures being taken to prevent future incidents of this nature.
The note also emphasizes Lithuania’s expectation that Russia fulfill its international obligations, including the provisions of the Vienna Convention, which obligates the host country to take all necessary measures to protect the premises of the diplomatic mission from any kind of damage or invasion.
