Fears are growing in China after the outbreak that broke out in recent days at Nanjing International Airport: cases related to this cluster have already been reported in 13 other cities, including Beijing.
From the first infections found on July 20 in Nanjing – when nine airport cleaners tested positive for the virus during a routine test – arrived at nearly 200 infections today. A decidedly low number compared to those recorded in 2020 with the outbreak of the epidemic, but which worries Beijing to the point that the Global Times, a newspaper controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, presented it as the «More extensive outbreak after that of Wuhan», The city from which the spread of the virus began in the world. If previous local clusters were limited to one city or a few nearby cities, “the Nanjing outbreak occurred at a busy international airport and trans-regional passengers traveling long distances quickly carried the virus across the country,” reads the Global Times.
Lhe more critical situation remains in Nanjing, where health authorities have set up checkpoints, suspended all flights e imposed the buffer on all 9.3 million inhabitants.
