The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics in Egypt issued a statement on the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey during the first half of 2024.

The agency’s statement said: “The agency’s data showed that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Turkey reached $3 billion during the first half of 2024, compared to $3.7 billion during the same period in 2023.”

The statement continued: “The volume of Egyptian exports to Turkey amounted to $1.5 billion during the first half of 2024, compared to $2.3 billion during the same period in 2023, while the volume of Egyptian imports from Turkey amounted to $1.5 billion during the first half of 2024, compared to $1.4 billion during the same period in 2023.”

He explained that “the most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to Turkey during the first half of 2024 are plastics and their products worth $235 million, fertilizers worth $177 million, iron and steel and its products worth $143 million, electrical and mechanical machines and devices and their parts worth $113 million, and ready-made clothes worth $101 million.”

The statement continued: “The most important commodity groups that Egypt imported from Turkey during the first half of 2024 are electrical and mechanical machinery and devices and their parts worth $275 million, iron and steel and its products worth $278 million, fuel and mineral oils and their distillation products worth $117 million, plastics and their products worth $74 million.”

According to the data, “the value of Turkish investments in Egypt amounted to $77.8 million during the first half of fiscal year 2023/2024, compared to $103.2 million during the same period of fiscal year 2022/2023, while Egyptian investments in Turkey amounted to $33.2 million during the first half of fiscal year 2023/2024, compared to $28.4 million during the same period of fiscal year 2022/2023.”

According to the data, “the value of remittances of Egyptians working in Turkey amounted to $30.1 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $29.1 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022, while the value of remittances of Turks working in Egypt amounted to $10.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $10.3 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Ankara yesterday, Wednesday, on an official visit to Turkey, the first of its kind in more than 12 years.
