“These attacks are a spit in the face of all French people whom I represent with dignity and pride, whether they are of immigrant origin or not”. The vice-president of the National Assembly, Naïma Moutchou, denounced the insults received on her mailbox on Monday. “This torrent of hatred, insults and threats received by email is incredibly violent. I am even compared to a monkey, a racist reference to my origins, ”she castigated.

The Horizons MP for Val-d’Oise posted screenshots of these insulting messages on Twitter, accompanied by photos of excrement, a middle finger or a hangman’s rope. In her post, the majority elected said her support for her colleague Fadila Khattabi, MP for the Côte d’Or and president of the Social Affairs Commission, also targeted by these insulting emails.

Support from opposition politicians and the Licra

Contacted by 20 Minutes, Naïma Moutchou confirms having filed a complaint. “Those who act digitally, by email or social media, still believe they can profit from the absence of legal action. But there is no question of allowing racism or hate speech to be trivialized, ”assures the MP to 20 Minutes this Tuesday. “The Internet is not a lawless zone: the law must also apply firmly. Far beyond my personal case, it is an everyday issue for a peaceful society”.

The member of the presidential camp received several messages of support from the majority, from the government, but also from members of the opposition, from Nupes to the National Rally. “This uninhibited racism has no place in public debate, the perpetrators of this cyberbullying must be firmly punished! “, reacted Eric Ciotti, the boss of LR. “The racists, with their hatred and their threats, damage France and insult it”, also denounced the socialist deputy Valérie Rabault.
