Cheerful, elegant and with a message. For their latest takeover, Maasmechelen Village selected none other than artist Delphine van Saksen-Coburg (55). On Saturday, June 24, ‘Love Imperfection’ got its well-deserved audience. “Thanks to social media, you are presented with an image that everyone is perfect,” says our princess. “That is a lie. I want to celebrate that everyone is unique.”

She has her own clothing collection with ‘Wearable Art’ and is more daring than the average royal when it comes to fashion. A collaboration with Maasmechelen Village therefore seemed predestined. For the shopping mecca, the princess created an exclusive series of patterns and installations – including a life-size ‘Wish Tree’, a mirror installation and a ‘Delphineken Pis’. The collaboration also includes a number of exclusive events, and pop-up boutique ‘The Creative Spot’ where (inter)national fashion talent is put in the spotlight. Princess Delphine chose ten up-and-coming Belgian designers, who will receive a retail space completely free of charge. Those names were supplemented with some international toppers. And that, despite the heat, attracted a lot of well-known people to Limburg for the opening event.

Miss Belgium Emilie Vansteenkiste was happy to be present in Maasmechelen Village. “I always wear gala clothes from Ebru Sari, the designer of Atelier EXC”, says Emilie. “She got a spot in ‘The Creative Spot’, and I was very curious about that.”

Dancer Wim Vanlessen also got a place in ‘The Creative Spot’ with his two books – ‘Dancer’ and ‘A very special boy’. “I am so incredibly honored that Princess Delphine is giving me this opportunity,” it sounds.

During ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Princess Delphine appeared on the dance floor with Sander Bos, and the two remained good friends afterwards. “Are we dancing a techno-tango today? Who knows”, laughs the Dutchman.

Hugo Sigal also made his appearance in Limburg. “It’s great that I can be here”, it sounds.

Karen Damen next to her sister, Kirsten. Both ladies have Kristina Knitwear together, a label with trendy knitwear. “Princess Delphine and I were once invited to ‘The table of four’ on the same day. I then decided to give her a cardigan from Kristina Knitwear”, says Karen. “Apparently the princess really loves her present because she told me she wears that cardigan all the time. When she was looking for designers for ‘The Creative Spot’, she really wanted us there. A fantastic compliment!”

Ebru Sari of Atelier ExC has many well-known customers, and Princess Delphine has also been dressed by the designer. “Soon there is something very nice planned with her royal highness, but I cannot reveal anything about that yet,” she laughs.
