If they succeeded in fleeing the war which strikes their country, the Ukrainians and Ukrainians resulting from the community LGBTQI have to carry out a new combat, that of discriminations related to their sexual orientation or their gender.

Des zones “anti-LGBT”

Poland was one of the first countries to show solidarity with Ukrainian men and women, but it is also one of the least tolerant European countries towards the LGBTQI community. According to The Washington Post, “in Poland, more than 100 municipalities have passed resolutions establishing ‘LGBT-free’ zones”. These areas have been multiplying since 2019, most of them are located in the east and in the south-east of the country, very Catholic regions. Unlike Ukraine, Poland does not allow same-sex marriage or adoption by same-sex couples. Many LGBTQI refugees who arrived in Poland now want to go to countries that are more respectful of their rights.
