(ANSA) – MAGALLANES, 13 SEPTEMBER – The twenty-fifth world congress of the Association of Women Journalists and Writers Ammpe World (its acronym in Spanish) is expected in Magallanes from 23 to 27 September. Punta Arenas, the capital of the region, will be the setting for the five days of work under the motto “Our north is in the south”. The choice of location demonstrates the association’s effort to decentralize major events and promote activities of international importance in peripheral areas – underlines president Elia Simeone – diversifying the tourism offering. The meeting is the result of two years of work by Ammpe in collaboration with Sernatur (National Tourism Service) and financed by the Regional Government of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica. Providing information in the era of fake news, the challenges of AI for the press, violence against journalists because they are women, the situation of journalism in Gaza are some of the topics addressed in the meeting, which will also be fueled by the presentation of books by the authors present. Among them, the Italian Guendalina di Sabatino with “Chiamatela Venerdí – Storie di quotidiano violenza domestica”, and the Spanish Ana Gaitero. The 144 participants will also visit the tourist attractions of the area. Ammpe World is an association founded in Mexico City in 1969 with the aim of encouraging associations and collaboration between women journalists and authors. Every two years it organizes a world congress in a different location, the last of which was held in Rome. (ANSA).
