In response to Dbeibah’s directives, aid convoys arrive in Sabha

On Sunday, aid convoys began arriving to areas affected by floods in Sabha and Al-Shati, and the distribution of urgent aid to affected families will take place, in implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba.

A set of instructions were issued to the relevant ministries to respond quickly, take the necessary measures, and provide support to citizens, each according to its jurisdiction, to support the southern regions affected by torrents and floods, including the Ministry of Local Government, Social Affairs, and Health.

The head of the government emergency and rapid response team, Badr Eddine Al-Tumi, stressed to the concerned authorities the need to take the necessary measures and provide support to citizens, each according to his specialization, to support the southern regions affected by torrents and floods.

The Ministry of Health also took urgent measures to confront the repercussions of the torrents and floods in the city of Sabha, including raising the state of emergency in the southern region, transferring serious cases to Tripoli, providing assistance to citizens, in addition to forming an emergency room in the municipalities of the southern region, harnessing all capabilities to help those affected, assessing the damage and providing medical and humanitarian services.

The Ministry of Social Affairs issued instructions to the Undersecretaries of the Ministry, the Social Solidarity and Social Security Fund, and the Social Studies Center to take the necessary measures and procedures to reduce the effects of the floods and provide capabilities and in-kind assistance to families.

The Social Affairs Branch in Sabha also formed a team to assess the damage caused by the rains. Its mission is to assess the damage to citizens’ property caused by the rains in the city and the cities and regions of the southwest, in order to provide assistance to families.
