In the trial held behind closed doors, 39-year-old Lozovoy was found guilty of treason, which manifested itself as espionage, preparation of a “terrorist attack” and illegal circulation of explosives.

Lozovoy, who lives in the Krasnodar region, was arrested in the fall of 2023 and has been in custody since then.

Lozovoy was caught when he removed the bomb parts from the hideout. The accused intended to blow up the War Commissariat of the Comintern District in Voronezh, TASS reports, citing a source in the Federal Security Service (FSB).

Lozovoy has admitted his guilt in the trial, which began this month.

The prosecutor’s office claimed that Lozovoi had decided to join the Russian Freedom Legion, an organization of Russian citizens fighting on the side of Ukraine.

Russia has recently convicted several men for trying to join this unit.

Lozovoy was also accused of sending photos of the Voronezh army base to the Ukrainian secret services.

Last year he was already punished for “discrediting the army” because he had republished an anti-war video on a social network.
