Moscow regularly hands down harsh sentences to people it accuses of spying for Ukraine. The defendants were convicted both in Russia and in the occupied regions of Ukraine.

The man in question was sentenced to criminal punishment by a military court in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.

Prosecutors alleged that he passed information about the Russian armed forces to security services in Kyiv.

The FSB, quoted by Russian propaganda services, said the man was found guilty of treason, participation in terrorist acts, as well as illegal possession and transportation of explosives.

The convict must serve his sentence in a colony with a strict regime.

The Kremlin’s propaganda mouthpiece TASS has published a video recording of the man’s arrest.

In the video filmed by the FSB, the man claims that he was recruited by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in 2016. The man’s face is blurred in the video.

The war started by Russia against Ukraine continued for more than ten years.
