In the Murmansk region, which belongs entirely to the Far North, the first case of infection with a new omicron strain of coronavirus was registered. This was announced on its VKontakte page by the administration of the Kovdor district of the region, where the infected person was identified.
The case turned out to be imported. In one of the settlements of the region, relatives from abroad came to visit the family. According to the rules of entry, they were tested for COVID-19, the virus was detected in two, the administration explained. The sick were sent to self-isolation.
“The analyzes were directed to further research, which revealed the presence of the omicron strain in one of the arrivals,” the administration said.
Now the health authorities are deciding on the hospitalization of the sick person.
