In Russia, the law on free access to the websites of government agencies came into force

The law on free access for Russians to socially significant sites came into force on December 1, RIA Novosti reported. Subscribers will be able to receive communication services free of charge in order to use such resources.

The authorities compiled a list of socially significant sites, which included the resources of state and municipal bodies, extra-budgetary funds and a portal of public services – in total, it included 371 sites. The criteria for including sites in this list were established by the Ministry of Digital Science.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to provide Russians with free access to socially significant resources. On April 1, the Ministry of Digital Industry began an experiment on this project. which will run until December 31st.

Kommersant reported that the Ministry of Digital Science has developed a draft government decree proposing to allow socially important sites to show videos in low resolution – 480 p.
