In Russia, the minimum age for the purchase of weapons will be raised by two years – RBK

It will be possible to buy weapons in Russia only from the age of 21. The corresponding amendments to the legislation will enter into force on June 29, 2022.

The new rules will concern:

• civilian weapons of limited destruction;
• hunting weapons;
• smooth-bore long-barreled firearms for self-defense.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared the parameters of weapons acceptable for self-defense

The State Duma adopted amendments to the legislation on this in mid-June 2021. Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed this law. There are exceptions – as before, from the age of 18, representatives of small indigenous peoples, professional hunters and employees of legal entities “with special statutory tasks” will be able to buy weapons.
